JENNIFER A. KERR is an associate in the firm's litigation department. She graduated from Albion College in 1993 where she organized and founded the Middle East Symposium in her sophomore year - at that time the largest turnout in the school’s history. While at Albion, she had the opportunity to study in Kenya, East Africa and work for an international human rights law firm in Nairobi. Ms. Kerr researched at the University of Nairobi where she prepared reports on human rights violations affecting Kenyan women. She also passed the Foreign Service Exam in the Kiswahili language. After graduation, she worked in New York City at the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights now known as Human Rights First where she published the article, Shackling the Defenders: Legal Restrictions on Independent Human Rights Advocacy Worldwide: A Report on Freedom of Association in Malawi, E. Africa, 1994 Lawyers Committee for Human Rights 65. Ms. Kerr received her law degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in 1998. While at Nova, Ms. Kerr was a finalist in the Victor H. Lance Memorial Moot Court Competition, a state finalist in the Florida Workers’ Compensation Competition, and was selected the Moot Court Competitions Editor. Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Kerr was awarded the Order of the Barrister for outstanding oral advocacy skills. Ms. Kerr was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1998.

While practicing law, Ms. Kerr co-authored an article written in the prestigious Tulane Maritime Law Journal, titled Marine Casualty Reporting and Investigation, Winter, 1999 24:1. Ms. Kerr also authored a grant proposal on behalf of the Horizons Committee (a program to promote the success of at-risk teenage girls), which resulted in the Committee being awarded The Florida Bar YLD Outstanding Young Lawyer Affiliate Award in February, 2008. She was a speaker at the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section on Litigation, Minority Judicial Intern Opportunity Program: ABA Fund for Justice and Education, June 18, 2008 on the topic "Tips For Soon To Be New Associates".

Ms. Kerr was elected to the Dade County Bar Association (the largest volunteer bar association in Florida) Board of Directors, Young Lawyers Section for 2007-2009. She was appointed Chairperson of the Judicial Outreach Committee for 2007-2009, Vice Chair of the Horizons Committee that received The Florida Bar YLD Outstanding Young Lawyer Affiliate Award (2008) for 2007-2008, and Vice Chair of the Membership Committee for 2008-2009.

Ms. Kerr is admitted to practice in all United States District Courts in Florida. She is a member of The Florida Bar and American Bar Associations. She is also a volunteer for the ACLU Rights Restoration Project.

The South Florida Legal Guide recognized Ms. Kerr as a "Top Up and Comer" attorney in South Florida for five consecutive years since 2004, an honor bestowed upon less than 3% of her peers.

Ms. Kerr has tried various cases in federal and state court. She has litigated personal injury, products liability, civil rights, commercial litigation, insurance coverage, maritime and defense of vaccine distributors’ actions. Ms. Kerr has also been successful in obtaining numerous summary judgments and dismissals; and, been awarded fees and costs as the prevailing party. In Ms. Kerr’s most recent trial, she effectively defended a client involved in a serious multi-vehicle/truck accident including a head-on collision with alleged serious injuries, and obtained a verdict that was reduced to $0 after post-trial set offs.
